Kava playing the Amayikko

This model was built as a contest entry for a contest hosted by the Bionicle fan group RSG. The model ended up winning the 1st place.
The goal was to build a musical instrument for a Bionicle character.

The model has a working Technic function that make the keys of the piano, that are built with Bohrok teeth if you crank a gear.

Backstory:

Kava is a Le-Metru Matoran who worked for a long time as an inventor and engineer. On a Naming Day celebration, he listened to a group of Le-Matoran play on their flutes and he was really impressed with their music. After their show, Kava ran over to the musical group and asked them if he could join their band. The other Matoran said that they are always open for new Members and asked Kava to play on a flute with them on the stage. Kava agreed, but he was a bit uncertain, because he never played on such an instrument before. A moment later, he was standing on the stage with everyone watching him, he took the flute, but he couldn’t make a sound at all. He was completely breathless!
The crowd started to talk and got louder and louder until one of the Le-Matoran shouted: “A Le-Matoran who doesn’t even have enough air-breath to play a flute!” Deeply ashamed Kava ran off the stage and locked himself in his room. But he was only thinking about one thing: He would show them what he can do.
Kava spent multiple days to build a complex machine, that uses air pressure in nine different pipes to make different beautiful sounds, so he could make the sounds by only pressing on a button.
He played on his newly built instrument and was able to create a completely different kind of music, that would never have been possible with normal flutes. He really enjoyed playing on his new machine he called Amayikko and not much later all his neighbors, who heard him play in the night wanted to see him play. Proud of his creation Kava decided to give a concert with his Amayikko and invited everybody he knew to the show. But when they saw his instrument and that he only pressed on buttons to play his music the Le-Matoran started to yell at him and tell him this wasn’t a real talent, but this time he wasn’t embarrassed! He was proud of his work, no matter what they said.
So, Kava packed his stuff and travelled the other Metrus with his Amayikko and showed his different kind of music to other Matoran.
The Amayikko is a mechanical instrument, with which the user can control air flowing into nine different pipes, by pressing on one or more of nine buttons. The musician can get very fast and play for hours, because all he must do is press the right buttons to play the songs he wants to play.
